Before telling us how to run our lives (as in how we should create a carbon neutral footprint for ourselves), please teach your son that driving 100 mph even in an "environmentally friendly" automobile is environmentally irresponsible and fucking dangerous. I'm pretty sure that puts a lot of carbon into the atmosphere and we will all soon be melting from all of the heat. I do however applaud his use of herb. I'm sure it's the finest your "An Inconvenient Truth" and Occidental Petroleum money could buy. I also believe if you want me on your side in this debate, we should legalize and grow massive amounts of hemp (aka marijuana). It's a plant. It thus takes carbon from the atmosphere and we can also smoke it be happy.

Just watched the "In Memoriam" section of the Oscars. I just have to ask, where was Don Knotts? Was he not in films? He's had many parts in movies. Many lesser known actors were featured in the short piece.

Did he die too late to be included in the piece? Or was it a slap at red state values, because he and the Andy Griffith show represent the red state moral compass? I just have to say they had 9 days to get it done and that should have been enough.

This Oscars' ceremony drips excessively of politics. It doesn't need to. We in the red states don't need to be preached to. We can be engaged in polite conversation, but it seems the Hollywood elite would rather hit us over the head or berate us as morons.

It's extremely timely in the events of recent weeks, such as the recent cartoon jihad. There's definitely some insights to be gleaned about the Muslim mind and culture from this book.

Energy independence is a disaster in the making?

If you ask me, this article is a just bit pessimistic. The writer must be a free marketeer, which is what I used to be. I believed in markets and the power of the invisible hand. One day I woke up and planes were flown into the World Trade Center towers. Is it possible that the some economic transactions cost more than the price paid?

If we look at the world, there are times when the full economic costs are not reflective of the price. Cigarettes, for example, cost a few bucks a pack. The economic damage done by them to the lives of human beings through cancers, emphysema, heart disease, and lost economic performance are enormous. Therefore perhaps we should raise the price to a point where individuals partake in a manner that is beneficial or at least neutral to society. Thus we see higher taxes on cigarettes, designed to create government revenue to pay for the damage done to the public health and welfare.

So when we look at oil, we see a world where the vast majority of proven recoverable reserves are in the hands of people who regularly scream "Death to America". These people are empowered by the money we spend on oil and they spread their ideology with the money we give them. This is a recipe for disaster for our country. We can't continue on this path.

What to do? We have to become energy independent, at least to the extent that it reduces our need to deal economically and culturally with these fanatics. We need to become efficient. We need to conserve. We need alternatives to oil. We need to devalue oil. We must recognize the true costs of oil.

First, let me say I believe it is impossible to become 100% energy independent. In the future technological advancements may be made that allow us to be 100% independent. For now though our focus on energy independence must be to escape the Mideast-OPEC sphere of oil influence.

We should start with efficiency. Hybrid engines, plug in hybrids, raising CAFE standards on automobiles, using strong plastic composites to lower car weight are some of what is needed.

Next we should conserve. One idea is to tax a gallon of gas so that it will always be $3.00. At current prices this would put an additional 60 to 70 cents (OH-KY area) onto a gallon of gas. A higher price should reduce consumption. It also would incentivize drivers to get cars that are more efficient.

To this end there should be a national campaign to promote recycling. A single aluminum can takes 350 watts/hr to create. That means one can in my area takes the equivalent of about 2-3 cents of energy. If we're going to one day start plugging in our cars at night to suck up electricity from the grid, we're going to have to find ways to save electricity. There are many recyclable items in every household in America and unfortunately most of them wind up in landfills. We can reduce energy use by recycling.

Ethanol, biodiesel, synfuels. These are some alternatives to oil. Certainly some people talk about these alternatives like they are pie in the sky. I don't believe we're capable of eliminating our full need for oil, but we can use these to greatly reduce our need for oil. We must move forward with technologies to produce these alternatives. There is no other choice.

In looking at the article, the writer points out that if we make advances in alternative fuels then the price of oil will likely drop, which is likely true. Let's say our reduced demand for oil results in an overall gas price of $1.50 (oh the days so long ago when the precious liquid was at that price). If we're paying $3 for ethanol, biodiesel, etc, then we would be vastly overpaying wouldn't we? Or would we? We're not adding in the cost of oil wars, terrorism, or kissing peoples asses who hate us. That $3 for ethanol would be spent in the US, stays in the US, and would be taxed in the US. It would create American jobs, not Saudi or Iranian jobs.

I would rather pay $3 a gallon for fuel if the money stayed here than pay $1.50 to the Saudis. It would allow me to sleep better at night, knowing that we've reduced the value of their oil and thus reduce the terrorism they create. If fuel is $3 a gallon, I have the incentive to use it more efficiently than I do if the price is $1.50, (which at the price is way too low for the additional external costs).

We must forward with measured steps, but most of all we must move with urgency.

I can predict exactly what the report will not say. It will not say that the prisoners of Guantanamo are without food, without Korans, without access to health care. Most importantly it will not say that any of the prisoners has been beheaded. There's a war going on here. These people were captured on the battlefield, most likely with weapons. I'm sure you won't see that. Dr. Sanity talked recently in a blog post about "Guilt" cultures and "Shame" cultures, HERE.

We're a guilt culture and the Saudis are shame culture. So we make more of our mistakes while the Saudis seek to deflect theirs by blaming someone else, which is us. Our treatment of Muslims in this country can't even compare to the crimes they commit against humanity. Yet, they blame the US, so that we internalize and then fail to point out that the Saudis have much more to be blamed for.

So, if one were to think for a second... How exactly does a country like Saudi Arabia, become almost 100 percent Muslim? History has shown us that there were many Jewish and Christian tribes and cities in the area. Different people when given a choice on an issue will almost never make 100% the same choice. If given the choice between Coca Cola and Tab, invariably some people would choose Tab.

How then does a society become 100 percent Muslim, when there were other religions in the area? Everywhere else in the world that this has come close to occurring, it often involves the cleansing of a population. Hmmm. So is it possible that the Saudis and other Muslims in the area have killed off (read: genocide) or terrorized (read: terrorized) the other religious populations?

Duh. I don't know.

OH MY GOD! Do we have to deal with these idiots on everything? First of all, the cartoon isn't lampooning Islam or the prophet Mohammed. It's lampooning CNN and a supposedly free press. Secondly, I think the next statement says it all:

Are we really going to surrender to people this stupid? The guy doesn't even know his own religion. A picture of the prophet Mohammed's face is not allowed by the Wahabibists. If you look in art you will find many instances where Mohammed's body is displayed, but his face is whited out. If you don't know what his face looks like you don't know what he looks like.

I've never fired a gun. Despite all of that I've thought of joining the NRA. We should have the right to choose. If I so choose to buy a gun, I definitely don't want to go hunting with Vice President Cheney. Fucker's dangerous.

I'm kind of interested what kind of hay the Left will make of this. Was it really conspiracy to off someone that went bad? Was this lawyer really a Democrat? Omar Bakri Mohammed, the radical Muslim cleric, has said the cartoonist behind caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed that have sparked outrage across the Arab world should be tried and executed under Islamic law.

He said if countries refused to put people on trial for insulting Mohammed they must “face the consequences”.

My solution is simple, very simple. It goes against many of our standing Western traditions, but I'm willing to do that for world peace, love, and harmony. With my solution we'll all be able to hold hands together and pick flowers in the grass.

So here it is: I, citizen of a Western democracy will make no effort to offend your Islamic God(s), countries, or prophets. In return you Islamic citizens of mostly totatalitarian states will make no effort to offend my Western God(s), countries, or prophets. Thus in doing so I will turn over anyone who offends your fragile Muslim sensibilities, whether by word or artistic expression. You in turn will turn over anyone who offends our Western sensibilities by word or artistic expression. Thus, I agree to turn over the cartoonists, if you in turn will turn over every Muslim who has ever shouted "Death To America" (or any Western country for that matter) and every Muslim who has ever burned the flag or embassy of a Western country.

You see I can understand our Western offense and how it affects you and your co-religionists. You must also understand that I, even as Western kafir infidel, I have feelings also. I've been off for a while. I've just started smoking weed again after a semi-long respite. It's a good to get off now and then to change thinking now and then, but it's also nice when I'm back on the stuff for a little while. So much has happened.

The extermination is on it's way? You don't have to go far on the internet to find pictures and statements like those in the picture above. I read somewhere that Palestinians in Gaza were praising their brother Osama Bin Laden in hopes that he would destroy Denmark. or Little Green Footballs or other sites, you'll find the information. Read what the militant Islamofascists have to say. All of this because of a few cartoons. If they'll kill people over this, they'll willingly kill all of us over any reason they can think of. So in defense of tolerance and reason, I say "Death to Islam!". Or at least the militant assholes of Islam.

With all of the furor over the Danish cartoons, I thought I'd create one of my own and see if other bloggers out there will join me in lampooning the stupid ideology of Islam. I understand that the cartoons in question were offensive to the feeble minds of many Muslims. I understand why they would be upset. It's okay to be offended. It's okay to be upset. It's not okay to threaten the rest of the world with massacres because someone drew a picture of your religion's psychopathic leader. It's not okay to commit violence just because someone offended you and your fragile mental state. Well... I guess it's okay if you're Muslim. Then it's definitely okay.

Are we in the midst of watching the Muslim world destroy itself?

I was hoping the "Islam vs the West" would mostly be a cold war (where eventually hearts and minds could be won), with small interventions here and there, but it now looks like we are well on our way to a very hot war. A war that may result in the death of hundreds of millions of people. The question that comes to my mind is always about the use of WMD. What happens after Bin Laden or Iran or Pakistan or some other muslim group uses a nuke or nukes? I don't believe we will just step aside and say "Oh, that's okay we're just going to let them get away with it." I think our retalliation will be swift and unforgiving. Perhaps even leading the extermination of Islam and its adherents. As always I hope I'm wrong on this. I hope that we can live peaceably in this world.

Chavez better in some ways than Bush (from letters to the editors in today's Cincinnati Enquirer)

Your "Hot corner" tirade against Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ("At least Chavez has no nukes," Nov. 6) read suspiciously like another media propaganda "plant" by the Bush administration. Let's compare: "Dictator" Chavez has won huge majorities in two elections and a referendum; Bush has not. "Strongman" Chavez fears invasion; Bush has perpetrated an invasion. Crowds cheer Chavez; they protest Bush. The wealth gap has declined under Chavez; it has increased under Bush. Chavez chummy with Castro; Bush chummy with totalitarian leadership of home to 15 of the 19 terrorists of 9/11.

This one you got right: Bush has nukes; Chavez does not. It's scary indeed.

Iran: Israel should be wiped off map

I say to Iran, "Go ahead, full bore." Then see what happens next. Maybe you've got a few nuclear weapons, but we've got more. Don't pussyfoot around. Use them like a man. Just do everything you possibly can.

I have to say I don't agree with everything Israel does. I feel for the Palestinians. I think they're getting a raw deal, but there's a lot of them that are so stupid that they've constantly wound up with nothing, when they could have had plenty. It's like a half a loaf is better than none, but not to a Palestinian. They have to have it all, which of course will almost always mean none. Throwing stones ain't going to get the job done. Killing yourself to kill others won't work, either.

Instead of intifadah, just call it what it is: War. The object of war is not to die for your cause or your country, but to make the other guy die for his.

That all said, the head of a country is calling for just short of a full Jewish genocide. I'm sure the Koran allows this. It must be such a peaceful book.

Maybe someday people can work out their differences like human beings. Maybe they'll be able to look each other in the eye understand the other. I guess not in my lifetime.

I had no intention of attending the Bengals-Steelers game unless someone gave me tickets. Now that the Bengals have submitted to the NFL pat-down policy, I would now refuse any tickets.

I really don't mind the pat-down itself. My resistance results from my reluctance to cooperate with the NFL in its effort to implement the Bush administration's fear strategy. It is obvious that whenever the Bush administration gets in trouble, they rely on fear to distract us.This is just another example.

Jeralyn Merritt subbed in for Eric Alterman's MSNBC blog "Altercation" today. I read the post on Harriet Miers with interest until I got to the following line:

We could have gotten Janice Rogers Brown, Priscilla Owen, Edith Jones, Alberto Gonazles or yet another conservative White male.

What does being a White male have to do with any qualifications necessary for being a SCOTUS justice? Are White male(s) inherently evil just for being White male(s)? Is this blogger making the connection that White male(s) aren't good enough to be SCOTUS justices? Couldn't this very statement been made without bringing White male(s) into it? Couldn't Jeralyn just as easily have written something about how he/she believes that the SCOTUS needs more diversity? What would have people thought about the post if Black male had been used, instead of White male? What does white and male have to do with anything?

Did you notice how Jeralyn capitalized "White"? Certainly draws attention to his/her thought process on Whites. I think he/she is probably racist and should be burned at the stake for this heresy. I call on all right thinking people to throw tomatoes at Jeralyn Merritt whereever he/she may go. And tell him/her how to spell "Gonzales". If you're going to insult the Attorney General at least spell his name right.

Can't we ignore race at all in this country? Or at least have some intelligent discourse about racial differences? I'm guessing, not in my lifetime. It's just a dream. Reverend King would be so proud.

I know what you were trying to say and I think you said it. The kind of thinking you were speaking against was in your own words "morally reprehensible". So that should be it, shouldn't it?

Well, no. You see the people who are so critical of you are liberals, Democrats, and blacks. They haven't had no good schoolin'. These are people who back the current public education school system status quo, so we can't expect most of them to be smart enough to understand the nuances (in a John Kerry kind of way) of your statement.

You must remember, that as a Republican, you are not allowed to say anything about black people at anytime. You should refrain from even using the word black in a sentence. I don't care if you're a Pittsburg Steelers fan, avoid uttering the word black at all costs. Certainly if you were a Democrat your words would not be deemed as hurtful to the fragile masses of liberalism. Just look at Senator Robert "There are white niggers" Byrd D-WV. You can even say such things on national television instead of radio. Hell, based on the Byrd example if you're a Democrat you can apparently have been a card carrying member of the KKK.

I know what you were saying as most intelligent people do. Remember never ever as a Republican talk about black people. Of course, here I am writing about black people today, so I am sure that I will be villified by those same people on the left. I wouldn't even be surprised if some people attacked me for being a white guy. Because it's okay to attack someone for their race if they are white.

I always love reading the letters to the editor in our local paper, The Cincinnati Enquirer. Most of the letters are written by idiots for idiots. Every now and then one really stands out. I just have to highlight this fine letter writer, Peter Freeman of Elsmere, KY. Letter to the Editor from a Dumb ass.

This is a more proper slogan, is it not?
Cultural diversity struggles in Cincinnati get a lot of news media attention. So, I am surprised that the Bengals, and local media, continue to encourage the use of what is obviously a non-diverse slogan, "Who Dey?" I Googled the origin of this, and the entire line is "Who Dey, Who Dey, Who Dey think gonna beat them Bengals?" This obviously pokes fun at someone's speech pattern and represents insensitivity to diversity on behalf of the Bengals and their fans. They should either drop it or change it to: "Who are they, Who are they, Who are they who think they can beat the Bengals?"

The "Who Dey?" slogan you reference whether it was originally making fun of someone's speech impediment or not (and no one knows if this is the case) is now a local colloquialism. Please go to your dictionary quickly and find the word colloquialism. This colloquialism has been used for as long as I can remember (at least 25 years). The Bengals and the local media could stop using the "Who Dey?" slogan, but the fans would still use it. It is endearing and timeless tradition for Bengals fans of all stripes.

If perhaps we could find this supposed individual that you believe is/was being made fun of, I would consider the possibility that the use of this slogan is harmful. That being said, you can't and you won't find this individual or group of people that is being harmed by the malicious use of the "Who Dey?" slogan. You are an example of political correctness and diversity run amok.

I've decided to become a freelance blogger. This means that I will blog on ANY subject that the purchaser wishes. Sort of like, requesting a song on the radio. I'm thinking 300 words minimum. Sometimes I wonder if we should really be fighting this war. Perhaps a truly diplomatic effort would be the best way. At the end of the day there's no diplomatic way to deal with an Osama Bin Laden. We could do everything he asked and then he would change the rules as he has in the past. You just have to read his fatwas or read the full translations of his videos and audio tapes to know this.

Today I came across this little gem from the blog "A Little Bordumb Spot" , An Email on this Psycho Cindy Sheehan . Some people won't like it. I know that. It reminds me that we have to fight these enemies for there to be world peace. From 1980 to Sept 11 our policy was often that of disengagement with terrorists. We fled Beirut. We didn't really care that much about those who died in Kenya and Tanzania. It was over there, not over here. As long as they keep there shit over there, we won't do much of anything. September 11th changed that.

Arab regimes as a whole won't confront us directly. They fight war by proxy using terrorists. They fight a war from the shadows against us. If we attack an Arab country that we have a legitimate beef against like Iraq, all muslims must fight us. That's how they think. It's not what we want, but sometimes we have to do what we don't want to.

What we need to get at is the terrorism underground, but unfortunately it's just not that easy with various nations providing cover.

Cindy Sheehan may have a legitimate beef and I feel for her loss, but I think she's being used by the anti-war crowd.

Upon Further Review - Weeds

I know I haven't gotten around to doing any further review of the episodes of Showtime's "Weeds". I've just been "busy" (read: stoned).

I'm still watching the show, but except for the certain cache that the underlying marijuana subject matter brings to the show, it's not that interesting. The problem that arises is that marijuana is its own character. Ganja in itself gives the show its edge, but it's not enough alone to make a good show.

Since I am a pothead and a suburban pothead at that, I would hope for that moment where I could relate to the individuals in the show on my stoner level. I never feel that. It's more like someone in Hollywood writing a script about what they think is wrong with Suburbia. Even the intro song makes fun of people who live in the burbs. Hey! I'm stoned and I live in the burbs! You're denigrating your own audience!

I don't know what to think of Kevin Nealon as the pothead CPA/city councilman. He's too much of a complete buffoon. There's something completely likeable about him at times and other times he's just too stupid of a character.

There's a whole stab at Desperate Housewives, with the character Celia. She'd fit in perfectly on that show, but on this one she's just an annoying bitch. She gave her fat daughter Ex-Lax because she was eating too much chocolate. Then her daughter shit herself. What a great mom. I don't even love to hate her. The last episode she was barely there and I didn't miss it her at all and let me say I'm glad she has cancer.

Mary Louise-Parker is perfect for the role as the pot selling mom, but the scripts so far have been too light. I'm not going to buy the fact that even though she lost her husband, she's going to keep her lifestyle exactly the same. Get rid of the lattes. Get rid of the maid. She may have to cut back a little bit. That's just basic common sense.

Then there's just stupid stuff that happens on the show. The writer is trying to push too much of an edge and goes way over. Mary Louise-Parker's brother on the show shows up and then jerks off in front of the maid (well not right away, but it does happen). But the maid just watches while he knows she's there. Just gross. Ewww. I would turn around and run away if I were the maid and I would be devastated if I were the masturbator.

The saving grace is the black family that supplies Louise-Parker with her pot. The mother is tough as nails. She's hard as rock, but she's shown that she has a sensitive side, too.

Oh well. I'll report back later. I haven't had that moment yet where I can say I really like the show, but I haven't cancelled yet either.

Unless you have your head under a rock, you know that W has put John Roberts up for Chief Justice. I just don't know if this is right. It's not like the Chief Justice has an inordinate amount of power compared to the other justices, but the guy hasn't even performed his duties as a Supreme Court Justice for a single case yet. He's going to go straight from being a SCOTUS candidate then confirmed, to being the Chief Justice? If you're one of the Supremes that's been there a decade or so, wouldn't you be a little disappointed that some newcomer/whippersnapper gets the position?

I wonder if there is such a divide in this country, that we can no longer communicate effectively with each other. I've seen time and time again where both sides of the political spectrum can't even understand what the other side is saying. Or perhaps worse, they don't even want to understand each other.

I'm afraid we no longer live in a country where we differentiate between right and wrong, but one in which all that matters is right and left.

Then there's me, though I lean right, I probably have to say that I'm a political moderate. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal. I used to be a member of the Libertarian party, but after 9/11 the party abandoned me. I voted for W once because I didn't think (and still don't) that John Kerry was the answer.

Yesterday, I made a small comment on "a liberal crackpot('s)" blog (her words, not mine) titled Last Left Turn Before Hooterville. The response I got from the blogger, Alicia, was bigger than her original post. Honestly a good part of her response I understand and maybe even agree with some of her points. My point was only that you can't honestly blame W for every death from Katrina.

No matter what the policy was or who was controlling our federal policy, people would have died. It's stupid to believe otherwise. Katrina has shown us that there were/are gaps in disaster response at all levels of government, local, state, and federal. If the "Liberal Looney Left" uses the tact that W was responsible for every death, they will make little political hay. If the LLL wants to win back control of the government they will have to do more to attract moderate voters like myself.

If we look at last year's hurricane season, people died and as far as I can remember the response by the government at all levels was seen at least as adequate. Certainly less people died last year, as such can you blame all of the Katrina tragedy on W? If this is the way politics is going to work, when the Dems get a president I'll just blame every tragic death from some natural disaster on the President. That would be stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

The politicians in NO and LA, knew better the possibility of flooding that a hurricane could bring. They even had disaster plans for just such an eventuality, but they didn't follow them. Just check out Emergency Preparedness. In the end they didn't implement their plan, they decided to just let the Feds handle everything. Now that's real leadership, isn't it?

One thing that goes through my mind at a time like this is 9/11. In NYC, there was no warning to the local officials that it would happen. They responded quickly to the tragedy and kept the situation under as much control as they could. In NOLA, the mayor had days before Katrina and did little to prepare and then his only response was to bitch and whine. NYC had a Republican mayor in Guiliani, while NOLA had a Democrat mayor. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything, but it should be duly noted.

That said, the federal government's response was too slow. Why? I don't know. I personally don't understand why they couldn't have flown in helicopters with water, food, and supplies by Wednesday. The assets were there. If they weren't, then they wouldn't have gotten there at all. FEMA director, Michael Brown, should be fired. At minimum there needs to be reform in FEMA. A rapid response team, if they don't have this already (it doesn't appear that way), is needed.

There is blame and plenty to go around. Whether we are red or blue, we need to understand what happened here, correct it, listen to each other, and get past it.

It's time for me to get mellow.

So I guess the tsunami that killed all of the poor Muslims in Indonesia and Sri Lanka, must have come from Allah, too. Better watch out dude, obviously based upon the death tolls from the tsunami and Katrina, Allah must hate those muslims more than he hates the United States of America.

And of course there's more in his article about America's economic demise in the world. Oh well, we won't be able to buy your Kuwaiti oil. It'll be a damn shame. That is the oil that would've belong to Iraq if we hadn't gone in there to give your country back to you, correct?

Another little thought, slightly changing the subject: I consider myself a Christian. I wouldn't say though that I'm religious. I would have to say I am more spiritual with God. I feel a bond without having to spend hours reading the bible or going to church (not that I don't ever do these things). God gave us a brain so we could use reason. Reason is the answer. God or Allah did not bring Katrina to decimate the US. It's a storm, an act of nature. Sometimes nature can be very harsh,ie the Indian Ocean tsunami.

I've read some lefty blogs in the last few days, denigrating redstate christians for their love of JAYZZUS! The left is always preaching tolerance, but when it comes to christians they're complete hypocrites. If a christian said the same thing about the muslims and the tsunami, these lefties would be all over it, yelling, whining, and complaining.

I don't think I'll find many lefties that would challenge this Kuwaiti muslim on the basis of reason. No, they'll probably say "we have to respect other cultures and not hate them because they have a different point of view that we find wrong or blah blah blah". Except how about respecting our own culture first? We have a society and culture and just because we're not like another culture doesn't mean that we're not right. I'm not saying we are always right, but too often those on the left respect the other side's argument without even giving any attention to America's side.

As far as the decline of America argument goes, don't count us out. There's a reason why we're number 1. It's in us. It's because we allow dissent. It's because we allow people to think for themselves, which in turn leads to creativity. That creativity will hopefully some day leave oil in the dust and desert of Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and many other muslim countries. I wish I'd could be here in 100 years to see how things turn out. I suspect America ingenuity will have found some new source of energy, whether it be hydrogen, fusion, or (for trekkie fans) dilithium crystals. What would the muslims do then? There's a storm brewing. A hundred years is long in human terms, but not in terms of human history.

I've been reading tons of posts from the left and right in the blogosphere about the Katrina tragedy. The blame game at this point in time is stupid. I'm afraid the blogosphere, which I would hope would be a marketplace of free ideas and expression, is devolving into nothing more than an internet flame war between the Lefty blogs and the Righty blogs.

I'm not going to point fingers at anyone, but there's too much childishness being played. I don't how many times I've seen a respectable blogger point out what some one on the opposite end of the spectrum is saying. It's like a whole tattle tale type of thing, where people are like look at what he's doing and then the other guy says "But he did it first".

Really, grow up.

Osama The Boogeyman

Does anyone ever think that Osama is just the "Boogeyman" for the US that Islam needs? That need is to raise oil prices, so that wealth flows from the Western infidels to the pockets of Allah.

Osama doesn't need to nuke us. He just has to make sure that his brethren get maximum dollars out of a diminishing resource. He just had to do 9/11 to get some credibility. Now he just threatens us and the price of oil skyrockets. His minions make a video and the price of oil goes up, up, and away.

That's why the Saudis don't really crack down too much on Al Qaeda. Hell, Al Qaeda has made them and will make them hundreds of billions of dollars. Osama's boys don't have to do anything anymore. They just have to threaten.

The Exclusive Stoner Pundit review of Weeds

So I actually forked out another 11 bucks a month to Directv for a subscription to Showtime, just to do this review. Right now it might be a mistake.

I prepared in the proper manner for a show like Weeds. Five to six good hits of the finest BC pot and a vicodin. I had to be in the right mind for this review and I am and was.

I am disappointed with the first episode. I'm not disappointed enough to stop watching. I'm expecting better things from the next episode. The preview looked better than the steaming pile of dog crap I watched last night. Actually not that bad, but it wasn't good. I know how it is though. It's the introductory episode, which means there is some perfunctory introduction scenes to help explain the characters and the plot. They should have just had Mary-Louise Parker do a narrative voice over with a video explaining everything that happened to lead her to this point and then start off in some scary or real life comedic scene.

There was some quote from a review saying that Showtime had outdone HBO or something like that. Not yet it hasn't. I admit it took 3 or 4 episodes before I saw the brilliance of The Sopranos. Six Feet Under took a little bit longer, but I eventually got hooked. HBO's Entourage, since the first episode, I have always wanted to see more. For Weeds, my patience will last until after the third or fourth episode. It better be good by then or I will not watch it again.

So I start to think, "Am I delusional?". Perhaps I am. I want the world to be a certain way that it certainly isn't. Here I am, stoned again. Is it because my mom died? Am I just faking my way into depression, by thinking that I was just having a good time? Just relieving stress. That's all it is. But you know that's a hell of a lot of stress for someone your age. You just don't want to admit it. But then you don't know which you that you are. The paranoia sets in and you can't even comprehend the simplest things. That you've got all you really need. Happiness doesn't come from behind a desk. Unless it does. That's dependent on your personality. What values you have. What matters the most. To you.

So many things that I want to face, but the facts are difficult. I am talented. I am smart. But do how I get where I want to go? How will I use my talent? Will it just be something I dream of? Or will I do it?

I'm left here, but I'm right here. Just another little paranoid schizophrenic.

A must read. It's like all the things that are sitting in the back of my head, all those ideas and thoughts that swirl around about a mundane subject. Thought of many of these things, many a time (and not always stoned).

Instead of "So what exactly is wrong with profanity?", shouldn't it be "So what exactly the fuck is wrong with profanity?" or "So what's fucking wrong with profanity?". Or maybe "So what the fuck is wrong with fuck?". Or even "So what the fuck is fucking wrong with fucking fuck?"

There's literally endless possibilities for using a good cuss word in any conversation. Like the other day, I'm at this chick's house and I'm going to get some. She has a four year old son. So I tell him, "I'm going upstairs to fuck your mom." I'm not the type of guy to bullshit a four year old. Of course I could have said, "Hey you little fuck! I'm fucking going up the fucking stairs to fuck your fucking mom." But you know I'm just not that type of person.

It looks like I was actually out in front on the issue of our nuclear retaliation if Al Qaeda attacked us with nuclear weapons: read Nuclear Islam. I posted that on July 11th.

I also picked up on Tom Tancredo's comments well before the other big blogs out there: read Tancredo Fouls The Water from Captain's Quarters. I've really got to slow down. I don't usually blog on something until it's a dead story or it's been a week. I'm going to lose my slacker credentials.

The fine captain believes that it was stupid for Rep. Tancredo to comment in such a way and because he is a member of the government the Al-Jazeera's and Al Qaeda's of the world will surely propagandize this. Was he wrong though? Certainly we don't want to kill innocents if we don't have to.

But if you imagine that day, when NYC or DC or Philly is gone from the map, what will our response be? What will it have to be? Nuke Mecca? Possibly. If Al Qaeda doesn't understand nuclear deterrence, then that is what might have to occur.

One possibility is that a nuclear suitcase bomb is detonated in NYC. Al Qaeda takes credit, spreading their hateful venom across the world via audio or video tapes. They threaten to hit another American city within 48 hours if we don't stop backing Israel or leave Iraq immediately. What are we going to do then? Be blackmailed? If we do that we'll be blackmailed on every issue from then on. Only nuclear deterrence is going to work.

Let's say I'm Osama and you say that you're going to respond to a nuclear attack on an American city, with an attack in kind on Mecca, wouldn't I be a little afraid? Maybe try to find another way to terrorize the infidels without getting my holy city destroyed?

Tom Tancredo may have looked stupid under today's circumstances, but if a nuclear weapon is unleashed on our soil, will he still look that way?

My girlfriend threatened to leave me if didn't stop smoking pot. We argued for a little while and then I agreed to quit. Then we had wild makeup sex. Afterwards I lit a number and now she's gone, for good. It's funny her name was Mary Jane. The moral of the story is that it never hurts as much if you have one more for the road.

I ride mass transit to work fairly often. Since 7/7, I've become a bit paranoid, which is fairly normal for a pothead. What I'm talking about is way more paranoid than the usual run-of-the-mill paranoia.

Yesterday, I'm riding the Metro on my way home. A swarthy looking male sits down beside me with his bag. I'm like thinking "Great, this is how I'm going to go. I'll be blown to bits. They'll find my arms wrapped around the engine and my head outside on the pavement." Now, I know I was being paranoid, but I was still worried. The dude was reading a book. I was just hoping it wasn't the Koran. I don't want him sitting next to me saying his final prayers. It turned out to be a computer training manual.

Then this morning another swarthy male got on this bus. I tend to sit in the back of the bus, so I just hoped he wouldn't come to the back. I knew if he did, I would be worried the whole ride. He sat in the front and my fears were allayed.

It's amazing to me how the media and Dems got into such a froth over the mere possibility that Karl Rove outed CIA agent Valerie Plame. Not all the evidence was in and they were going nuts calling for his resignation. Like it would make that big of a difference. Don't you think Bush would call him up from time to time anyways for advice on how to handle various political issues? It turns out even if he had outed her, it possibly (should I say probably) isn't a crime, because she's not "deep cover".

Is Rove the smartest political strategist out there? Was this all his ingenius master plan? Any intelligent journalist might have figured out that Rove knew he wasn't culpable when he allowed Matt Cooper to break their confidentiality agreement. If you don't have anything to hide then why hide it? This is something most journalists (and Dems) don't seem to understand. I don't know what they're smoking, but I want some. It's got to be some of that good Maui Wowie or Panama Red.

The Candidate

I was stoned off my arse yesterday afternoon, having taken the day off from work to do so, when I turned on HBO2 or 3 or whatever number it is on Directv, to see The Candidate was on. I had to watch it. I've seen the movie once when I was probably 12 or 13, but didn't remember that much about it other than it was about a political campaign and Robert Redford was in it.

Has anything changed politically in this country in the 33 years since this movie came out? Robert Redford was (and I believe is in real life) a Democrat. Even if they had renamed the parties to Political Party 1 and Political Party 2 for the movie, you would still know which was the Democrat and which was the Republican party.

Are we mindless rubes who listen to (and occasionally get excited about) the same recycled rhetoric? We've all been organized and put in our spot in suburbville or cubicle land at work. Or are we just being worked over in the same manner? It's all marketing and advertising really. For the most part we don't know what's happening in Washington. There are deals being made every day that we as citizens can't even comprehend. And we probably don't want to and we probably don't care.

Nuclear Islam

That's what we really fear isn't it? Radical muslims have shown complete disdain for our way of life. If they got their dirty little hands on the bomb, there is little doubt that they would use it to kill as many of us as possible. There can be no doubt Osama would incinerate as many of us infidels as possible.

The primary question is "Is there any deterrence for the Islamofascists from using a nuclear weapon on our shores?" We certainly won't use a nuclear weapon until provoked to that level. For the Left in this country there is no way we could possibly use our most powerful weapon unless there was strong enough evidence that someone else would use their nuclear weapon(s) first. So we have to prove that someone is going to use their nukes before we can use ours. It's impossible to prove what's going to happen without a time machine.

We will have to wait for a nuclear weapon to be used against us before we will use ours. The Left would not allow any other way. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to go blowing people up anymore than I want to be blown up. From a political standpoint, the use of nukes as an offensive weapon is largely out of the question. We (the US of A) will only be allowed (by the Left) to use these weapons in a defensive manner. That's the facts as they stand.

So we fast forward to 911 times 1000. Yes 911,000! Osama and friends get a suitcase nuke (or nukes) out of Russia, they transport it to New York or Washington. They detonate it, killing hundreds of thousands,if not millions of people. Do we stand in ruins as a country? I don't think so.

Even if several nukes reach our shores and are detonated in our largest cities, we still would number 250 million people strong with defense assets all over the globe. We have the nuclear payload to wipe all of Islam back to the stone age (Oh, wait, they're already there).

What are the implications of a nuclear weapon hitting our shores? What would our response be? Please comment.

It would take many years for us to recover, but in the end my guess is Islam and its followers would be worse off for it, because Osama doesn't understand the concept of nuclear deterrence. You attack us like that and we'll wipe you off the face of the earth. Osama and the jihadists better have more than a few nukes if they're going to bring down the "great Satan". Just using a few nukes on us and it will be like bringing a knife to a machine gun fight. There will be no one left in this country who disagrees with our use of nuclear weapons on Tehran, Cairo, Riyadh, etc.

I hope that day never comes.

So where do I stand on the recent Supreme Court decision about marijuana? (I know this was like so two weeks ago, but as I say I'm usually stoned so sometimes I'm a little slow on the get go.) No More Medicinal Marijuana

You'd think being The Stoner Pundit, I would be totally for legalizing marijuana, but I'm not. I do think the court's decision is outrageous. It steps on states rights and shows that the court has little, if any, understanding of the concept of federalism. Just about everything comes under the interstate commerce clause as this court interprets it.

As it stands though, I prefer marijuana to be illegal. I like that feeling of being bad or getting away with something. If everyone was doing it, I'd have to find something else to do, like maybe smoke tobacco (it's illegal isn't?)

Don't get me wrong, too many people are clogging our court systems with marijuana crimes. We need to look at better policies to create better outcomes. For me, I'm too lazy (and stoned) to fight for what's right. It's easier just to hide in the shadows and get stoned. There are certainly bigger fish to fry from a narcotics standpoint. Cocaine, heroin, and meth are much more dangerous to our society than marijuana. Meth is becoming a huge problem in white, rural America (check out The Meth Toll) destroying lives, family, and the social fabric.

If a little weed may help terminally ill patients, what's the problem? They're friggin terminal! Oh so they may smoke weed and die a day or two earlier? States should be able to decide this issue, not 9 old farts.

The blogosphere is an amazing development in the history of humanity. As much as the inventions of railroads or automobiles. It is a transfomation of how we simple human beings can communicate with each other.

Gutenberg's printing press is almost nothing as compared to how we use the internet today. The printing press required that you had enough money to buy or lease a printing press. The blogosphere is free to anyone who can find an internet connection. You can find that at your public library. In foreign countries, I'm not sure how that is with the differing levels of freedom that nations of the world have. Access levels vary from country to country.

You suddenly have the power to change society culturally and even globally. If you're smart enough. If you're innovative enough. If your ideas hold sway, you can change how the business and political spheres operate. Your voice can be heard! Just go to blogger dot com to get your own blog. It's free, but you have to be literate. If your not literate you have no chance to survive in a future society.

Ideas and information flow across the globe almost instantaneously. This will surely transform the way peoples of different cultures and creed interact with each other.

Will the best ideas win out? Or will it eventually wind up being a place that likes pro wrestling? Will it feed the lowest common denominator in our American society? These are the important questions mankind faces.
